All-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country Wins Ward's Interior of the Year Award

Chrysler Town & Country’s feature-laden interior set it apart in the premium-priced truck category

Award reinforces Chrysler’s leadership in minivan functionality, versatility and design

Ward’s judges named the all-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country “Interior of the Year” at the 2008 Ward’s Auto Interiors Show, the publication’s annual auto interior event. The prestigious top award emphasizes Town & Country’s place as the premium minivan in the segment.

“Best-interior nominees included the usual smattering of utility vehicles, from the sporty Mazda CX-9 to the sophisticated Volkswagen Touareg 2,” said Eric Mayne, Editor - Ward's Automotive Reports. “But the Chrysler Town & Country’s rich content and well-executed functionality made it the consensus winner.”

The Chrysler Town & Country’s seating and storage features gave it the leg-up in the 10-judge interior competition. The industry-exclusive Swivel ‘n Go™ seating group was praised for its ability to face third-row passengers, and in-floor storage bins designed from the Stow ‘n Go™ seating system provided a great solution to help eliminate unnecessary interior clutter.

“(Ward's AutoWorld) Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter swooned over the rich suede micro-fiber that accented the first- and second-row seats,” Mayne said. “Finished in pearlescent white leather, the seating surfaces invoked macho Drew to use the L-word (love). But just as a successful campaign helps politicians cut through the clutter, a well-designed interior helps motorists manage it. On this issue, the Town & Country is a clear winner.”

From a more contemporary and elegant interior design, premium interior amenities, to its versatile seating - the comforts of a well-appointed home were incorporated in the all-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country, making time spent traveling, time well-spent for families.

“It is a great honor to have the Ward’s judges give the all-new Chrysler Town & Country their most prestigious award,” said Joe Dehner, Vice President – Small, Family and Premium Vehicle Design, Chrysler LLC. “Great detail was given to our innovative and flexible minivan interior from satin finishes, burl wood trim choices, chrome accents and clean tailored lines to ensure an upscale look and feel.”

Available at Chrysler dealerships nationwide, the all-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country raises the bar in the minivan segment. With more than 25 years of minivan development and more than 60 segment firsts, Town & Country remains the best vehicle to transport people comfortably and their things efficiently.

Chrysler engineers developed two distinct seating systems: Chrysler’s exclusive Stow ‘n Go seating and storage system and the new Swivel ’n Go™ seating systems.

Swivel ’n Go™ offers second-row seats that swivel 180 degrees to face the third row with a removable table that installs between the two rows, covered storage bins in the floor of the second row, third-row uncovered storage and fold-in-the-floor third-row seating. The table stores out of sight in the second-row covered storage bins when not in use. Swivel ’n Go also offers an available minivan-first integrated child booster seat in the second-row quad chair (late availability) and an available minivan-exclusive one-touch power-folding third-row 60/40 bench seat. With Swivel ‘n Go, everything from dinner on the go to card tournaments is possible.

The most flexible seating system in the minivan segment, Stow ’n Go™ is standard on all Chrysler Town & Country models, giving customers second- and third-row seating that quickly and conveniently folds into the floor.

Entertainment options are unmatched by competitors. With music, audio, movie and personalized picture display capability, the MyGIG® Entertainment System anchors the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country’s multimedia together with a 20-gigabyte hard drive for 1,200 songs, USB port, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, front-row movie playback (in Park as permitted by state regulations) and an audio jack for any MP3 player audio playback. The MyGIG Infotainment System adds even more capability with navigation, voice controls and real-time traffic monitoring.

For the rear passengers, minivan-first dual DVD system can play different media at the same time. With SIRIUS Backseat TV satellite streaming video and SIRIUS Satellite Radio, DVD player and dual A/V jacks with a 115-volt power inverter in the second row, there is something to keep everyone entertained. Halo lighting, second-row power windows, second- and third-row sun shades and a removable, rechargeable flashlight in the rear cargo area are some family-friendly innovations found in the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country.

All-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country
The all-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country offers an all-new contemporary appearance, three different models, three distinct seating and storage systems, unmatched entertainment systems and safety features. The Chrysler Town & Country has 35 new and improved features, including a new 4.0-liter V-6 engine mated to a minivan-first six-speed transaxle, more standard equipment including Electronic Stability Program (ESP). The newest feature is the Swivel ’n Go™ seating system, offering second row seats that swivel 180 degrees to face the third row with a removable table that installs between the two rows, covered storage bins in the floor and the second row, third-row uncovered storage and fold-in-the-floor third-row seating. The 2008 Chrysler Town & Country has received the U.S. Government’s highest Five Star crash test rating in both front and side impacts. The starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of the new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country is $23,595.

Chrysler Brand
Chrysler is the seventh largest brand in the U.S. automotive market. The brand’s succession of innovative products continues to solidify Chrysler’s standing as the leader in design, agile performance and innovative technology built around a customer’s needs, all at an extraordinary value.

The award-winning all-new 2008 Chrysler Town & Country has 35 new or improved features that include the innovative Swivel ’n Go™ seating system.

Arriving later this year, the new 2009 Chrysler Aspen Hybrid will give a unique option to customers who need the cargo and towing capability of a sport-utility vehicle, but want a more efficient alternative. Chrysler Aspen Hybrid is more than 25 percent more fuel efficient overall, and up to 40 percent more fuel efficient in the city. Also, for customers seeking fuel efficiency, the Chrysler Sebring sedan and Chrysler Sebring Convertible both achieve 28 miles per gallon (mpg) highway fuel economy and have been certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay program, which recognizes the cleanest, most efficient vehicles sold in the U.S.

2009 Dodge Journey takes a top award at the annual Ward’s Auto Interiors Show

Award reinforces Dodge Journey’s leadership in design, family-friendly features and innovative technology

Ward’s judges presented the all-new 2009 Dodge Journey crossover a special achievement award, “Clever Utility,” for its well-thought-out and smartly integrated interior features at the 2008 Ward’s Auto Interiors Show — the publication’s annual auto interior event.

“‘Extreme functionality’ sums up one Ward’s judge of the Dodge’s flexible interior,” said David E. Zoia, Editorial Director - WardsAuto.com. “To start, the Journey has more hiding places than a Nancy Drew mansion. Flip forward the front passenger-seat cushion to reveal a nicely sized compartment for keeping valuables out of sight. There are also concealed compartments under the floor in the rear cargo bay and ahead of the second-row seats — the latter specially lined for potential use as an ice chest.”

A key target for the 2009 Dodge Journey’s design team was delivering a crossover with a practical, flexible interior, and seating and innovative storage features typically found in the award-winning and best-selling Chrysler and Dodge minivans.

“The all-new Dodge Journey right-size crossover is designed to satisfy buyers’ rapidly changing demands by offering a unique combination of versatility and flexibility,” said Joe Dehner, Vice President – Small, Family and Premium Vehicle Design, Chrysler LLC. “The 'Clever Utility' special achievement award validates what our designers and engineers sought to accomplish, and we are honored by Ward’s' judges for this recognition.”

Now available at Dodge dealers nationwide, the all-new 2009 Dodge Journey redefines the expanding mid-size crossover segment, offering seating and cargo versatility, safety and security, child friendliness, great all-weather driving capability, best-in-class fuel economy (19 city/25 mpg highway) and a best-in-class starting price of $19,985.

Designed from the ground up, the all-new Dodge Journey combines the versatility of a large sport-utility vehicle with the efficiency of a passenger car. With bold, capable styling, perfect proportions and an innovative interior design, Dodge Journey is the right-size crossover for people who want the prestige of an SUV and the functionality and utility of a minivan.

Utilizing the Dodge brand’s successful family vehicle formula, Dodge Journey incorporates unique seating and a best-in-class storage system, creating a spacious and flexible interior ready to handle life’s ever-changing challenges. With the simple turn of a single lever, the available Tilt ‘n Slide™ seven-passenger seating system quickly folds the second-row seat cushion upward and slides the entire seat forward, allowing third-row passengers easy in-and-out access. Two available integrated child booster seats — a first in the mid-size crossover segment — quickly pull out from the second-row seat cushion, eliminating the need to transport bulky child seats. Spacious storage bins, including Flip ‘n Stow™ front-passenger concealed storage, Chill Zone™ glove box beverage cooler and dual in-floor bins with washable liners in the second row, offer quick storage and increased passenger comfort.

Dodge Journey offers a variety of innovative technologies that make life easier. A cutting-edge MyGIG® multimedia system provides the driver and passengers 3-D navigation with real-time traffic monitoring, an integrated 30-gigabyte hard drive to store music and pictures, and an auxiliary audio jack to play any MP3 player. Additional features including SIRIUS Satellite Radio, ParkView™ Rear Back-up Camera, UConnect® hands-free communication that is Bluetooth® compatible, a UCI for iPod connectivity, and rear DVD entertainment with two wireless headphones, make every day a driving pleasure.

With a four-wheel independent suspension, two fuel-efficient powertrain options and available performance-tuned suspension, Dodge Journey delivers decisive handling in nearly all conditions. Available all-wheel drive further enhances Journey’s all-weather capabilities.

Dodge Journey SE’s standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder World Engine is coupled with a standard four-speed automatic providing best-in-class fuel economy. With 19 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, the Dodge Journey delivers efficient, yet solid performance. The 2.4-liter 16-valve engine produces 173 horsepower (129 kW) and 166 lb.-ft. (225 N•m) of torque and features dual variable valve timing, intake manifold flow control valves, acoustic cylinder head covers, dual counter-rotating balance shafts and an acoustic oil pan.

Dodge Journey SXT and R/T models feature a standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 235 horsepower (175 kW) and 232 lb.-ft. (315 N•m) of torque coupled with a fluid six-speed automatic transaxle with Auto Stick that provides quick acceleration and a quite ride. The 3.5-liter V-6 engine on front-wheel-drive models delivers 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway and 15 mpg city and 22 mpg on the highway on all-wheel-drive models.

With more than 35 safety and security technologies available and a Five Star government front- and side-crash test rating, Dodge Journey delivers peace of mind. Auto-reverse sun roof: Advanced sensing system that automatically engages and reverses the sun roof (to the open position)
Auto-reverse windows: Automatically engages and reverses the driver's side window (to the down position)
Brake Assist: In a panic brake condition, the system applies maximum braking power, providing the shortest possible stopping distance
Brake/Park interlock: Prevents an automatic transmission or transaxle from being shifted out of Park unless the brake pedal is applied
Child seat anchor system: LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) is designed to ease installation of compatible aftermarket child seats
Child-protection rear door locks: Disables the rear doors' inside-release handle via a small lever on the door-shut face
Constant-Force Retractors (CFR): Distributes force or load exerted on a seat belt, and then gradually releases the seat-belt webbing in a controlled manner
Crumple zones: Designed to compress during an accident in order to absorb energy from an impact, decreasing transfer of that energy to the occupants
Digressive load-limiting seat belts: Retractor senses a vehicle impact and immediately applies a load to the seat belt in order to properly position the occupant before the full load from the vehicle impact is imparted onto the occupant. It then reduces the seat belt load to moderate forces imparted onto the occupant during the impact event
Door Alert: Periodically activates a chime and illuminates an icon in the instrument cluster to remind the driver if a vehicle is driven without the doors being properly closed
Electronic Stability Program (ESP): Enhances driver control and helps maintain directional stability under all conditions. Provides the greatest benefit in critical driving situations such as turns, and is especially valuable when driving on mixed surface conditions including snow, ice or gravel. If there's a discernible difference between what the driver asks through the steering wheel and the vehicle's path, ESP applies selective braking and throttle input in order to put the vehicle back onto the driver's intended path
Energy-absorbing steering column: The steering column utilizes two hydroformed coaxial tubes that can move relative to each other in order to allow the column to move forward for enhanced energy-absorption during a crash
Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS): Makes it easier for emergency personnel to see and reach occupants in the event of an accident by turning on the interior lighting and unlocking the doors after air bag deployment. Also shuts off the flow of fuel to the engine
Head rests in all positions: Each seating position, including Swivel ‘n Go™ and third-row middle seat, utilize head restraints
Height-adjustable front seat belts: Allows occupants to raise and lower the shoulder belt. Encourages seat belt usage by offering a comfortable fit
High-intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps: Provide approximately three times the light output of conventional reflector lamps for improved nighttime illumination
HomeLink universal home security system transceiver: Stores three separate transmitter radio-frequency codes to operate garage-door openers, security gates, security lighting or other radio-controlled devices
Integrated child booster seats: Allow children up to 4-foot 9-inches tall and between 48 and 85 pounds to sit in the adult-belted zone and are available with the Swivel ‘n Go™ seating system
Integrated Child Seats: Designed for children at least one year old, between 22 and 50 pounds and are no more than 47 inches tall. Seats are conveniently designed within an available second-row bench seat
Interior head-impact protection: Interior pillars above the beltline and instrument panel, including areas around windshield and rear window headers, roof and side-rail structures, and shoulder belt turning loops specifically designed to limit head-impact force
Keyless ignition system: A fob with integrated key and a wireless ignition node with integral ignition switch replace the metal key. The double-sided integrated key is inserted into the ignition switch to start the vehicle. The fob also contains the Remote Keyless Entry and a removable valet key
Knee bolsters: The lower instrument panel and the glovebox door are designed to properly position the occupant, enabling air bags to work effectively
Occupant Resistant Controller (ORC) with rollover sensor: Determines the appropriate output for the multi-stage driver and low-risk front-passenger deployment air bags, along with side air bag curtains during a rollover event
ParkSense® Rear Park Assist System: Assists at low speeds in Reverse to detect stationary objects. Consists of visible (interior lights seen with rearview mirror) and audible warnings for the driver
ParkView™ Rear Back-up Camera: Provides a wide-angle view of the area immediately behind the vehicle, giving the driver greater peace of mind before backing up. Also aids in lining up a trailer to the vehicle's trailer hitch, when so equipped. The image automatically displays on the navigation screen when the transmission is shifted into Reverse
Power-adjustable pedals: Allows brake and accelerator pedals to move toward or away from the driver in order to help achieve a safe and comfortable seating position for improved vehicle control
Power liftgate with obstacle detection: Detects obstacles in the path of a closing power liftgate and will automatically stop and reverse the power-closing operation
Power sliding passenger doors with obstacle detection: Detects obstacles in the path of a closing power sliding door and will automatically stop and reverse the power-closing operation
Rearview interior conversation mirror: A convex mirror located in the overhead console above the inside rear-view mirror allows the driver to see rear-seat occupants while looking forward
Remote Keyless Entry: Locks and unlocks doors, and turns on interior lamps. If the vehicle is equipped with a vehicle-theft security alarm, the remote also arms and disarms that system
Remote start: Conveniently starts the engine from outside the vehicle by using the fob while maintaining vehicle security
Safety cage body structure: Key structural enablers help keep the passenger compartment intact during a crash
Seat-belt pretensioners: During a collision, impact sensors initiate the front seat-belt pretensioners to immediately remove slack, thereby reducing the forward movement of the occupants' heads and torsos
Sentry Key® engine immobilizer: Utilizes an engine key that has an embedded transponder with a preprogrammed security code to discourage vehicle theft. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the controller sends a random number to the transponder and the engine is allowed to start. If an incorrect key is used, the engine will shut off after only a few seconds
Side impact door beams: Add extra protection in the event of a side impact
Sliding door alert system: Warns other drivers by flashing the exterior lamps when passengers are entering or exiting the vehicle
Supplemental side-curtain air bags: Extends protection to all outboard front- and rear-seat passengers, including third-row outboard passengers. Each side air bag has its own impact sensor that autonomously triggers the air bag on the side where the impact occurs
Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM): Informs occupants when tire pressure is too low. Pressure-sensor modules within the valve stems of all four road wheels send continuous radio-frequency signals to a receiver and the system
Three-point lap shoulder seatbelts: All seating positions, including Swivel ‘n Go™ and third-row middle seat, utilize three-point seatbelts
UConnect® Hands-free Communication System: Uses Bluetooth® technology to provide voice-controlled wireless communication between the occupants' compatible mobile phone and the vehicle's onboard receiver. The hands-free option promotes safety, freedom, value and flexibility

"Yeah, you’d want one. Maybe even sell a vital organ for experimental medicine for one. Certainly cash-in your kids’ college fund to put one in your garage.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. When Dodge announced there’d be an initial, limited run of 6,400 Challenger SRT8s for the ’08 model year, they sold out before you could say “Eat My Mustang.”

And why wouldn’t you lust after this piece of throbbing, tire-fricasseeing, Hemi-powered American muscle? Especially when it comes with a 6.1-liter pushrod V8 up front delivering 425 horses and a whole hunka burnin’ torque."

Chrysler LLC Delivers Economic Stimulus; Protects Consumers from Rising Gas Prices for Three Years

Let's Refuel America Program Information

“Let’s Refuel America” available throughout the U.S. exclusively at Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge dealerships through June 2, 2008

Three-year price protection from volatile gas prices available on compact, mid-size and full-size models, minivans, crossovers and pickup truck models

Seventy-six percent of customers cite rising gas prices as “top concern”

In response to direct customer feedback citing the prospect of rising gas prices as a top concern, Chrysler LLC today announces its own economic stimulus package: an exclusive gas price protection policy that eliminates the risk of further spikes in fuel prices. With the purchase of eligible Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles, customers can enroll in the “Let’s Refuel America” program and receive a gas card that immediately lowers their gas price to $2.99 a gallon, and keeps it there for three years. The offer is available through June 2, 2008, and is available on vehicles ranging from popular new compacts, crossovers and minivans to full-size diesel-powered pickup trucks.

“Today we are proud to introduce an unprecedented program to help put customers’ minds at ease and do something to help working people who are worried about the volatility of fuel prices and vehicle cost of ownership,” said Jim Press, Vice-Chairman and President, Chrysler LLC. “The Let’s Refuel America Price Guarantee puts money in your pocket today, and allows our customers to better manage their fuel expenses. And you can't get it anywhere else besides a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealership.”

The Let’s Refuel America program offers consumers a combination of the fuel price protection program and additional bonus cash up to $3,000 on available vehicles, including Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Charger, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Dakota and Dodge Ram.

Consumer Economic Solutions
Chrysler has a number of solutions to help our customers during these tough economic times. “Chrysler is committed to providing the best value, and the least worries, for our customers,” said Press.

Chrysler’s lineup includes five models for under $20,000 that get 28 miles-per-gallon or better on the highway. To protect consumers from unexpected repair costs in the future, Chrysler models come with the industry’s best powertrain warranty, covering the original owner for the life of the vehicle. And Chrysler has made a number of its most popular options standard on its New Day Package vehicles.

Fuel Economy Solutions
Chrysler currently offers six models that get better than 28 miles-per-gallon on the highway: Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler Sebring Convertible, Dodge Avenger, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot and Dodge Caliber. Through April, the six of these models combined have higher sales than in the first four months of 2007.

The recently-launched 2009 Dodge Journey comes with an available 173-hp four cylinder engine, helping it achieve best in class fuel economy.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel 3.0-liter engine provides a class-leading driving range of approximately 450 miles and gets an estimated fuel economy of 18 miles/city and 23 miles/highway for 4x2 models and 17 miles/city and 22 miles/highway for 4x4 models. Outside of North America where fuel-saving diesel engines are in higher demand, Chrysler offers 17 models with diesel powertrains.

This fall, Chrysler will launch in the United States, two new hybrid SUVs, the Dodge Durango Hybrid and Chrysler Aspen Hybrid, boasting a fuel economy improvement of more than 25 percent overall, and 40 percent in the city. In 2010, the Dodge Ram Hybrid will reach the market.

Chrysler is currently in the midst of a $3 billion powertrain investment offensive to develop new fuel-efficient powertrains and axles for our next-generation models.

Chrysler supports the federal government’s new dramatically increased CAFE fuel economy standards, which will increase fuel efficiency by an average of 40 percent by 2020. Recently, Chrysler joined the US Climate Action Partnership, working to find solutions to global greenhouse gas emissions.

Customer Advisory Board
In February, Chrysler created the industry’s first Customer Advisory Board to encourage a direct dialogue with customers and gather insight and feedback. A recent Advisory Board survey generated the following results:

76 percent of the community is "very concerned" or "extremely concerned" about fuel prices.

83 percent of the community responded that fuel prices will affect their summer vacation plans.
(Note: the poll shows that 19 percent responded "extremely", 22 percent responded "very much", 30 percent responded "somewhat", and 12 percent responded slightly, 17 percent responded that it won't affect their plans.)

Program Description
The Let’s Refuel America gas card program works when a customer purchases a new and unused Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle and selects the program in lieu of other available incentives. The customer is provided with the registration process documentation and registers providing their required personal information via the dedicated web site or toll-free 800 number. Once registered, the customer receives their gas card and separately, their Personal Identification Number (PIN) within 4 to 6 weeks of application. The customer then swipes their Let’s Refuel America Gas Card at an eligible gas station, selecting up to 87 octane regular, E85 fuel or diesel fuel, and enters their PIN to begin the fueling process. After the fuel transaction occurs, the customer’s personal credit card (identified in the registration process) is charged $2.99 per gallon.
